70th Anniversary of Jim Morrison's Birth

On this day, December 8, 1943, James Douglas Morrison was born in Melboure, Florida and became the Navy brat of Rear Admiral George Stephen and Clara Virgina Morrison. So I thought I would honor Jim Morrison with some pictures and what is, surprisingly, my favorite The Doors song, Unknown Soldier.

Elie Saab Fall/Winter 2013-2014 - Seeing Red

Elie Saab Fall/Winter 2013-2014 collection is a stunning look at silhouetted beauty that was presented over the summer in Paris at the Palais Brongniart, located in the  historical Paris stock exchange, Bourse de Paris. I had a more difficult time than usual choosing just a few pieces from each color , so at least with this particular post, I am going to concentrate on one color...Red. One of my favorite colors. So enjoy.

Staring red, naturally.

Honestly I am not too cray about the following piece but I love the flowy sleeves.

Cute little red party dress for the holidays.

McQueen Monday #5 - Rugs

Alexander McQueen fashion house has teamed up once again with The Rug Company this year to bring out a line of rugs, wall hangings and cushions. Personally, I would use all the rugs as wall hangings.

Military Brocade contemporary rug made of Pashmina and silk. It is based upon an Alexander McQueen 2001 jacket.

And now the jacket.

It also comes in ivory.

Hummingbird Ivory Tapestry  made of silk and metallic threads on an ivory cashmere background. It can be used as either a rug or a wall hanging.

Here the hummingbirds on a black cashmere background.

Of course it can not be an Alexander McQueen collection without skulls, so here is Black Skull cushion made of hand woven wool. There is also a Skull Gold cushion.

And the skull look would not be complete with out a Skull rug made of silk and wool.

And then of course there is the Monarch Fire silk rug that was inspired by Sarah Burton's 2011 Butterfly dress.

Unreleased Led Zeppelin Music Discovered

In a Rolling Stone online article that was posted today, Robert Plant stated in a recent BBC Radio 6 interview that he has unearthed some previously unreleased Led Zeppelin recordings, with John Paul Jones on lead vocals on some of the tracks. Jonesy is trying not to have them on the remastered catalog. " " So far he is going to have to give me two cars and a greenhouse not to get 'em on the album," Plant said with a hearty laugh."

"I found some quarter-inch spools recently," he said. "I had a meeting Jimmy [Page] and we baked 'em up and listened to 'em. And there's some very, very interesting bits and pieces that probably will turn up on these things."

This comes towards the end of the BBC 6 interview.

Tea for Tuesday #11 - Tea and Books

Books and Tea

In Need of Destressing

It has been just one of those days where the thought of what the day would bring was stressing me out this morning. It turned out not be all to bad. Yes the seafood salad did help...some. But I am still feeling tense and am looking for some more ways to destress before my Spooky stresses me out some more with lovin's. He is so territorial when it comes to me.

Anyway, I am starting to look through somethings on mainly Pinterest and that is where I came across this emerald and diamond armlet.

Then from a friend on Facebook a picture of Samantha, Tabitha and Endora from "Bewitched" put a smile on my face. I always wanted to look like Samantha and act like Endora. Who am I kidding? I still want to look like Samantha and act like Endora.

Flight of the Bumblebee is relaxing for me, especially if it is paired with 'Ave MAria' and is performed by Yehudi Menuhin as from "Stage Door Canteen"

Oh I love this picture. I really NEED to get off my lazy butt and work on my roses before it gets too cold.

Richard Armitage. Smile on my face, thank you very much.

HALLELUJAH! Not a Remake of THE 'Heartbreaker'

I just really need to say this and tweeting will not work.

The times I have been on Twitter today I have seen Heartbreaker by Justin Bieber trending and all I could think was was "No! It can't be!" , as in it can't be a remake of THE Heartbreaker. There is NO WAY in Heaven and Hell that Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, John Bonham's estate and Robert Plant have become doddering old fools in their advanced ages and would  give permission for the balls -to-the-walls and stop what you are doing and have sex right then and there Heartbreaker to be covered by someone who does not have a tenth of the talent, in his whole little body that,Jimmy Page had in his little finger when HE was twenty. And I was right...HALLELUJAH!!!

Fashion Friday Photo #29

Squeezing this post in quickly while it is still Friday where I live. I thought tonight I would do something simpler, but no less elegant, than what I usually seem to post. So to get ready for the cooler weather here in the Northern Hemisphere is some true pret-a-porter outfits, with camel, tan (sand) and cream being the main focus colors. With some leopard print being thrown in for some pizazz

This first outfit is very close to something I enjoy wearing when the weather turns slightly cool. I have the jeans and I have a camel colored cape, does not tie, but I do not have the leopard print scarf.

I'm not sorry to say this but no white after Labor Day, off-white is okay, and that means both shoes AND clothes, unless a camisole or something of that ilk under a sweater. Other than that I do like the leopard print hat and the cape is okay. Not a color I would choose unless it was a little darker. And the fringe boots...speechless.

All I know about this next piece is that it is a Michael Korrs sweater with a faux fur neck warmer. I love the dark purple handbag.

  Cute sweater dress.

The Rain Song ~ Led Zeppelin

The second track from Houses of the Holy is The Rain Song. It had the working title Slush because of its easy listening mock orchestral arrangement. The ballad was released on March 28, 1973 after George Harrison, who was a fan, told John Bonham that Led Zeppelin never wrote ballads. In tribute to this the opening chords of The Rain Son is from the easily recognizable first line from George Harrison penned The Beatles song Something.

The Rain Song is over seven minutes long. The song was originally constructed by Jimmy Page at his home in Plumpton, England because he had recently installed a Vista studio console that was partially made up from the Pye Mobile Studio that the group used at the 1970 Royal Albert Hall performance.

Page brought the completed melody arrangement to Robert Plant, who then wrote some lyrics. Plant considers these lyrics to be the best that he has ever written. To get the orchestral effect to the song John Paul Jones used a mellotron, while Page played a Danelectro guitar.

From late 1972 to 1977 Led Zeppelin immediately played The Rain Song right after The Song Remains the Same presenting the songs in the same chronological order as on the album. The setlist was organized in this manner because Page played his Gibson EDS-1275 double-necked guitar on both songs: the top, the 12-string neck, tuned to Standard tuning, for The Song Remains the Same, while using the alternate tuning Esus2 on the 6-string neck for the live performance of The Rain Song. This tuning is a step higher than what was used on the album, Dsus2 an "open page" alternative guitar tuning which required Plant to sing at a higher level.

 THE RAIN SONG

This is the springtime of my loving - the second seasonI am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing- so little warmth I've felt before.
It isn't hard to feel me glowing - I watched the fire that grew so low.

It is the summer of my smiles - flee from me Keepers of the Gloom.
Speak to me only with your eyes. It is to you I give this tune.
Ain't so hard to recognize - These things are clear to all from time to time.

Talk Talk- I've felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go. I curse the gloom that set upon us...
But that I love you so.

These are the seasons of emotion and like the wind they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion - I see the torch we all must hold.
This is the mystery of the quotient - a little rain must fall.
