Ann Wilson of Heart released on May 8, 2026 " Nothing But Love ". She co-wrote the song in 1999 with the late legendary song writer, Burt Bacharach. I hope you enjoy their song.
Hello folks. I do hope you are doing well.
Today's entry for Music Monday was released by today by the Rolling Stones. Rough and Twisted is from their upcoming album ' Foreign Tongues ' that will be released on July 10, 2026. Which is 16 days before Mick Jagger's 83rd birthday. Strange not having Charlie Watts on the skins but, from the two songs that I have heard, In the Stars and Rough and Twisted, I think he would like it.
The song is very blues infused. I don't know for certain how long it has been since they have done this type of bluesy song, but I hear some Bo Didley in Keith Richards' guitar playing.
So here's to the Stones who never quit Rolling. πΆπΈπ¬π§
Sadly, it's only recently that I have found out that Rodney Crowell co-wrote ' Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight '. Also that Emmylou Harris had been the first to cover the song in 1978 and that it was included on her album ' Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town'. Up until recently the only way I have ever heard ' Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight ' was from the Oak Ridge Boys. They released the song in December of 1979 and it charted to #1 in February of 1980.
The song was staying in my head and I went to YouTube to find the Oak Ridge Boys version and that's when I found out about Rodney Crowell singing it. Sometimes I have this tendency of discovering a song, old or new doesn't matter, and listen to the heck out of it. This is what has happened with Rodney Crowell's version or another personal version of ' Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight '. It has a touch of Cajun music in the performance with the accordion/squeeze box and style of fiddle playing. It also put me on a bit of a rabbit hole with Rodney Crowell's music. I have known of him but have forgotten some of his music. Rediscovering him. So his version is the one that I will have today.
Happy Music Monday. πΆ

The Australian rock group, Divinyls is known to most Americans for their 1990 song 'I Touch Myself ' from the groups self-titled 4th album. In February of 1995 they released Divinyls released the song ' I'm Jealous ' from their 5th album Underworld . It doesn't seem to have been released in America but it charted at number 14 in Australia and remained in the top 50 for 19 weeks.
I came across the song on YouTube and liked it. Hope you also enjoy it
Divinyls ' I 'm Jealous '.
Brothers Edgar Winters and Johnny Winters live performance of the song ' Tobacco Road '. I am thinking it is from their 1970 appearance on Danish television.
I have tried to listen to other people's renditions of this song but,by comparison most seem flat. Boring. Lacking. I said most of them. The only other performance of ' Tobacco Road ' that I enjoy is Lou Rawls 1963 rendition.
So for a treat, I will put both renditions up and let you decide which one you like the best.
March 17th is the Feast Day of St. Gertrude of Nivelles. She is the patron saint of cats, poor people, gardeners and widows. After the death of her father Pepin of Landen, Mayor of the Palace of the Kingdom of Austrasia, St. Gertrude's mother, St Itta of Metz, founded the Abbey of Nivelles in Belgium. St. Gertrude was the double monastery's first abbess.
From Annie Lennox and Dave Stuart, the Eurythmics, 'Here Comes the Rain Again'. Released in 1984he song is from their 1983 third studio album Touch.
I don't fully remember ' Woman in Love" when it was first released, but I feel like there are some bits that are vaguely familiar.
Listening to this song in full gave me goosebumps. The opening chords are full of Barry Gibb fingerprints...if not his entire hand. Even the breathy singing of Barbra Streisand is Barry Gibb. I can hear him singing ' Woman in Love' to her. So at this point he is over his elbows in this song. Then Barbra comes in with her fingerprints. Soaring vocals. There is a cry in her voice when she sings the chorus. This is where I get the goosebumps and teary eyed.
I hope you enjoy this week's Music Monday entry ' Woman in Love ' with lyrics.
Today I have chosen the Immaculate Heart of Mary for Mother Monday. It is not the feast of her Immaculate Heart, but for some reason today I was drawn to it.
The Filthy Heathens is, for at least me, a new group. Their debut EP ( Extended Play), ' Etheridge', was released in May of last year. Today I am highlighting one of the songs from it, "Devils Like Me". The guitar in the beginning is reminiscent of Lynard Skynard's " Tuesday' Gone". Then somewhere along the line, I get a feeling of the Black Crows and could see Chris Robinson singing this song. Maybe a little of early Steven Tyler singing " Devils Like Me". Maybe.
Without further ado, here is the Filthy Heathens "Devils Like Me".
