McQueen Monday #11

 This is from McQueen's Fall/Winter 2007 collection. I love the back. It has bit of maybe late Renaissance or maybe early Victorian. I am not really certain but I do wish I knew what the front looks like. I am still searching for a photo of the front of this dress.

McQueen Monday #10

  Alright I am going to get right to it and dive in with the first picture. It  is in my favorite color...red. I like the dress and the waist cincher/corset that is with it but something needs to be done with the model's hair. I mean her hair is just BLAH. A store mannequin would have better hair that is if it had a head. I know she is young and has no say so on how she should look but whoever idea it was for this hair style needs to be slapped.

 Lovely dress, if you don't mind the pink pampas grass at the bottom and I don't, for Spring 2016. No qualms about the model.

MCQueen Monday #9 - Spring 2015 Ad Campaign Unveiled

  Released in Fashion Times  today is the Alexander McQueen spring campaign 2015. The images will run in the American and British Vogue, W and Interview magazines. They are also set to be on Alexander McQueen's website and social media pages.

  The campaign photo shoot was shot by British photographer David Sims, on location in a London studio, and with German model Karolyn Wolter wearing Sarah Burton's kimono-inspired wardrobe.

All photos are credited to David Sims and Alexander McQueen.

  There will probably be more images in the magazines and the company's website but for now we only have these two.

  I for one am not impressed with what I see but then again we are not talking about normal clothes. I am fine with Karolyn's androgynous look a la David Bowie, even with the bell bottoms. But for me there is something missing and I can not put a finger on it. There is no life to it. It's dead. Maybe that is the look they were going for but it has left me flat. Oh well, to each their own.

McQueen Monday # 7 - Met Gala 2014

  Vogue's editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour's daughter Bee Shaffer in an Alexander McQueen gown for the Met Gala 2014.

McQueen Monday #6 - Widows of Culloden

  Dress is from Alexander McQueen's Widows of Culloden Fall/Winter 2006-2007 dress. When asked about the antlers Alexander McQueen replied:

When we put on the model and draped over it the lace embroidery that we had made,

we had to poke through a £2,000 piece of work. But then it worked because it looked 
like she rammed the piece of lace with her antlers.There's always spontaneity. 
You've got to allow for that in my shows. 

 

 

McQueen Monday #5 - Rugs

  Alexander McQueen fashion house has teamed up once again with The Rug Company this year to bring out a line of rugs, wall hangings and cushions. Personally, I would use all the rugs as wall hangings.

Military Brocade contemporary rug made of Pashmina and silk. It is based upon an Alexander McQueen 2001 jacket.

 

And now the jacket.

It also comes in ivory.

Hummingbird Ivory Tapestry  made of silk and metallic threads on an ivory cashmere background. It can be used as either a rug or a wall hanging.

Here the hummingbirds on a black cashmere background.

Of course it can not be an Alexander McQueen collection without skulls, so here is Black Skull cushion made of hand woven wool. There is also a Skull Gold cushion.

And the skull look would not be complete with out a Skull rug made of silk and wool.

And then of course there is the Monarch Fire silk rug that was inspired by Sarah Burton's 2011 Butterfly dress.

McQueen Monday #4

This to me is nothing pretty or spectacular to look at unless you want to count that it is a pretty spectacular creepy looking piece of fashion by McQueen. Sacrilegious I know. Anyway, the model is wearing a piece from Alexander McQueen's Ready-to-Wear 2009/2010 Fall/Winter collection and she looks like Pinhead from head to wherever in it. Told you I thought it was a creepy looking piece of clothing.

McQueen Monday #3 ~ Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

I thought that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge in a pink McQueen outfit on her last public appearance before the birth of Prince William' and her 's baby.  So with Princes William and Harry in tow, I give to you Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

McQueen Monday #1

  I have decided, that for me at least, and I mean this with love and respect,Alexander McQueen is the King of Fashion Porn. Now don't get me wrong I love my Elie Saab, Dior, Valentino and Zuhair Murad. Oh and Marchesa, can't forget Marchesa. But there is just something about Alexander McQueen clothes that just says"Here I am and I will not be ignored".

  So with that being said, I have decided to start the week with a Monday post of Alexander McQueen. This will be some of the earlier pieces, some even before he started his own label,  until I do a complete post on the Fall/Winter 2013-2014 line, which is going to be difficult considering I have gone completely gaga over some of the pieces. Clutches, handbags and shoes will be included.
