Mother Monday #10

Today I have chosen the Immaculate Heart of Mary for Mother Monday. It is not the feast of her Immaculate Heart, but for some reason today I was drawn to it.

Music Monday - The Filthy Heathens- Devils Like Me

The Filthy Heathens is, for at least me, a new group. Their debut EP ( Extended Play), ' Etheridge', was released in May of last year. Today I am highlighting one of the songs from it, "Devils Like Me".  The guitar in the beginning is reminiscent of Lynard Skynard's " Tuesday' Gone". Then somewhere along the line, I get a feeling of the Black Crows and could see Chris Robinson singing this song. Maybe a little of early Steven Tyler singing " Devils Like Me". Maybe.

Without further ado, here is the Filthy Heathens  "Devils Like Me".

Tea for Tuesday #29

I recently came upon a tea pot attachment called a tea pot drip catcher. Instead of holding the tip of the tea pot lid with your hand when pouring tea this is put on to hold the lid in place. Knowing me, I would still have a hand on the top of the lid.

Music Monday - Song of the Nairobi Trio

Having watched a lot of " What's My Line " on YouTube, I think it was evident that I would eventually watch an episode with Ernie Kovacs. Actually, I watched two episodes before I got curious enough to find out who was Ernie Kovacs . Seems my brain was getting him and Jerry Colonna mixed up. Dark hair. Moustaches. I thought Mr. Colonna smoked cigars, too. That would be a no.

Anyway, in my reading up on Mr. Kovacs I read about the Nairobi Trio. Edie Adams, his wife, and Jack Lemmon, best friend, would sometimes partake in the Nairobi Trio. The music was originally called ' Solfeggio ' by Robert Maxwell  and was released in 1953. This is the version that Mr. Kovacs used on his television series. The song was rereleased in 1957 with the permanent title ' Song of the Nairobi Trio '.

Caturday Saturday #1

For the first installment of Caturday Saturday, we are going to start with Egyptian inspired cat art. Disclaimer: Most seems to be AI Modified. I have an idea as to what that means but not to the point that I understand how it is achieved.

  Enjoy the cats

Mother Monday #6

Gustav Klimt's 1905 painting ' The Three Ages of Woman's is this Mother Monday entry. Co

Completed in 1905 while residing in Austria, 'The Three Ages of Woman' is one of the most distinguished pieces of the Vienna Movement.

'The Three Ages of Woman' is exactly what the title says. A baby girl being held by her mother with an older woman looking down with her long hair and hand hiding her face. To me this also represents the Triple Goddess and/or Maiden ( the baby) , Mother and Crone. The woman covering her face is heartbreaking. Whether by design or not there seems to be a suggestion that a woman should be ashamed of growing old but a man's body is in the same boat as he ages. Again, this is my thought.

  I still love the painting.

Music Monday - Sarah Vaughan - Misty

This is a 1964 live performance of the song 'Misty ' by Sarah Vaughn in Sweden. The Divine One recorded  Misty' in 1959 in Paris, France with orchestration and conduction  by Quinc'y Jones  on her Vaughan and Violins album.

Music Monday: Bob Weir

Saturday night, January 10, 2026 news came of the death of Grateful Dead's founding rhythm guitarist and vocalist, Bob Weir had died at the age of 78. The statement that was released stated that Mr. Weir had beat cancer but, unfortunately, had succumbed to underlying lung issues.

Sadly, this leaves founding Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann as the last member.

Fashion Friday - Marchesa

I was looking for some of the latest in Marchesa fashion but some seemed to have eluded me. I hope you enjoy what I have been able to curate. When possible, I will put in the year.

This a 2025 black jewel embellished column dress

A little more casual look is this denim poplin shirt midi dress. Mot crazy about the shoes. They seem to be too casual.

A stunning one shoulder cape gown made of stretch crepe with the cape made of tulle. Love the deep aubergine.

Finally, there is this red RTW 2013 Marchesa piece. Reminds me of something that would possibly been worn in the 1950s.

Epiphany 2026

The Epiphany, also known as Three Kings Day, is the time in which Jesus Christ was revealed to the world through the visit of the Magi/Three Wiseman from the East.

The Magi brought gifts to Baby Jesus of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Gold represents kingship, thus acknowledging Jesus as king of the Jews.

Frankincense oil, representing divinity, denoting Jesus role as the Son of G_d and His divine nature.

Myrrh resin foretells suffering, hinting at the future suffering and death of Jesus.

The day is marked with church service, chalking of the door ( blessing ones home), having your house blessed and, at least in Louisiana, eating king cake.  It is also the time to remove the Christmas tree and decorations.

Tea for Tuesday #25

A twist on Tuesday. Instead of hot tea, which this could be used for, this a hot chocolate service set . It is either Limoges or Nippon porcelain. I couldn't find real information on this set but I believe it to be one of the two.

Mother Monday #4

With about 15 minutes to spare my time I remembered Mother Monday. Holy Mary, Mother of G_d with children.

Music Monday - Type O Negative

January 5th marks what would be Type O Negative's bassist and lead singer, Peter Steele ( born Peter Ratajczyk) 64th birthday. In his honor I am posting " I Don't Wanna Be Me" from Type O Negative's 2003 album Life Is Killing Me

12 Days of Christmas - Day 12

"On the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me 12 drummers drumming ". This final verse of the song concludes the  12 days of Christmas by representing the 12 points or articles of the Apostles. The Apostles Creed is the opening prayer of the rosary.
